Guest post: Hollie Takes Notes

Here for your reading pleasure today is the lovely Hollie of Hollie Takes Notes.

Hollie's blog covers a variety of random topics, which is why I love her.

She also has a penchant for hilarious photos, a win in my book.

The post she has prepared for y'all hits close to home, so I hope you enjoy it!

And make sure to go visit Hollie and say hi!

First of all, Alex is the bomb.com for having me. I'm Hollie Ann and I have a blog you can find here. I write about everything from fashion and style to daily life and funny sh*t. Basically whatever I feel like. I do what I want! ;) Who isn't random though? Come say hi and be random with me. Lately I've been thinking about where my career is headed. I'll be honest. I'm 25 and I'm still figuring it out. I know I don't want to spend 40 hours a week waiting for it to be 5 oclock somewhere though. I recently decided it's okay my resume isn't where I thought it'd be. It's okay I don't know where my career is going.
I mean, let's be real. When I was a kid I wanted to be a potato chip maker. Talk about doin big thangs. I watched an episode of Sesame Street and saw a tour of a potato chip factory. I mean come on! Sounds dreamy to me.

Then I wanted to be a dancer. Good thing I didn't stick with this because who knows what kind of dancer I'd end up as? ;)

I wanted to be a lawyer. I liked to argue. Then I realized how much school that took. And, I can't stand to see people intentionally hurt others. How could I defend someone I disliked? Then I wanted to be a social worker. Then I realized I love kids, but I don't feel comfortable around old people.
Then I went through a period of time where I had no idea.

In high school, I took a sewing class and liked it. I took all of the home education and fashion courses. I decided I wanted to be a buyer or work in marketing for a fashon company. I went to FIDM in Los Angeles and graduated with my AA in Merchandise Marketing. I realized I didn't love LA...okay I didn't even like it. I hated it. I moved back to San Diego and have been continuing my BA at a Cal State school while working full time in sales. I don't want to work in sales forever. I don't even know if I'd be willing to relocate to work in fashion. Fashion is after all, not really impactful. I want to be impactful. So here I am wondering if my passion for style is really what I should dedicate my career to. What would really make me feel inspired?
They say what you loved as a kid is what you probably love now. Well? I loved a lot of things. But I did a lot of writing. I wrote poems. I daydreamed about the future. I wrote stories. I signed my name. I loved to write. And doodle. And imagine. Lately, I've been thinking about how much I love to write. Even if it's not "proper." Even if I say sh*t on my blog. So right now, I'm going to do what I love. And see where that takes me.

Even if I'm 25 and still figuring it out. And if you're still figuring out life as it goes. You're not alone. Stay inspired and don't settle. Even if it's a day by day thing.

I hope when Hollie figures out what she wants to do, it's something in Oklahoma. It may take her some time to figure that out, but she will. She's a smart cookie.
