The Fab Four has a beach weekend

I was in desperate need of a girls weekend, so it was pretty fortunate that a Fab Four trip had been in the works for a while now.

Swampy and I made the trek to Corpus Christi for bonding and beach time.

It was a weekend that did not disappoint.

This is what we look like after standing on a windy roof in high humidity for a couple of hours. 

Haritha is in med school. I wanted to see what it felt like to be a future doctor! With sun glasses on, obviously.

Anyone know who Selena is? If you're from Texas it's a requirement.

I know there are like 50 country songs with lyrics about toes in the sand, so insert one here.

I have cheated on Lent four times. This was time number four.

I cried. I laughed. I whimpered. And we all wore Katniss braids because we're THAT cool.

Things I learned/were reaffirmed this weekend:

1. I am awkward.

2. Snorting while laughing is apparently not endearing.

3. I should learn when to not buy just oneeee more drink.

4. The Doritos taco shell from Taco Bell is amazeballs.

5. My friends are fabulous.

6. Trailers for Titanic make me ugly cry.

Though I will sadly not be seeing it at midnight [too old], I already have my IMAX tickets for Sunday. 

And then maybe I'm seeing it on Monday as well.

Totally acceptable.

A St. Patrick's Day engagement party

The lovely Amy and her fiance, Ben, had an engagement/house warming/St. Patrick's Day party this past weekend, so there was lots to celebrate!

If you look closely, you'll see that we're all wearing Mockingjay pins.

They are acting out the scene from The Hunger Games in which Katniss volunteers as tribute.

11 Things

I found this on the always lovely Ashley's blog, and thought I'd give it a whirl.

Please picture me as I fill this out, besieged by allergies and a sore throat that could be part of said allergies or a product of screaming like a 12 year old girl at the Enrique Iglesias rodeo concert last night [clearly this is a scheduled post].

Now that you know I did not make out with Enrique, here are some other things to know about me:

1.       Which Website do you visit the most? 

Facebook. They should be paying me per second I spend there. It's probably a little unhealthy. I can't help it if I like casually stalking people.

2.       If you couldn't shave your legs or wax your eyebrows for the rest of your life, which would you choose?

Tough question. I'm half Mexican so my eyebrows are thick and grow naturally into a unibrow [there are reasons you've never seen pictures of me as a child]. But hairy legs are unsightly as well.  So my answer? Move to Europe where leg hair is accepted.

3.       Name a talent you have

Not having any talents should be considered a talent. Hmmm...I do make excellent guacamole.

4.       If you could meet one person, living or dead, who would it be?

Tina Fey. And we'd become best friends immediately. She would probably get me a job as a writer on 30 Rock or give me a recurring role on the show. Obviously.

5.       If you had to go on a reality TV or game show, which one would you choose?

Jeopardy. I am 75% sure that I could dominate that shiz.

6.       If you were president, what's one law you would make?

 30 hour work weeks and a MINIMUM six weeks paid vacation. The Europeans know what's up.

7.       What's your favorite smell? 

Chocolate chip cookies in the oven, followed closely by the Anthro volcano candle

8.       You have a spicy piece of gossip,  who's the first person you tell? 

Courtney and Caroline. I'm pretty sure we know absolutely everything about each other...and everyone else. We're like Gossip Girl without the malicious intent.

9.       What's your favorite thing about yourself?

My awkward sense of humor. 

10.  what's your favorite holiday?

Thanksgiving. When else is it appropriate to gorge yourself on delicious food then sit around and do nothing? Oh, always? Ok. 

11. What did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was 5, I remember telling people the following: "When I grow up, I want to be a ballerina, doctor, book illustrator, and archaeologist." Ballerina...tried that, not graceful enough. Doctor...went to a special high school for it and decided it was entirely too much school. Book illustrator...wtf I can't even draw. Archaeologist...too much dirt, but a more viable option than the rest.

100% success rate in getting members of a band to wave at us

Last week a group of fun ladies went to the rodeo to see Lady Antebellum. 

This was my second year to see them, and the third year in a row that Courtney was able to score super close seats...seats so close that the band could actually see us and wave back as we waved obnoxiously at them.

It is also important to note that these seats came with free food.

And let's not forget the camel I met who got a little too fresh with me.

When your bestie gets engaged

My lovely Courtney became an engaged woman on Friday!

Little did she know, there was a big surprise party waiting for the happy couple that evening.

We ate drank and were merry, having a fantastic time celebrating our girl and her new fiance. 

I'm pretty confident that I have the best friends a girl could ask for.

They're supportive, fun, and always hand over the champagne bottle when you need a refill. 

We love you, future Mrs. Brown!

Sisters engaged within weeks of each other!

It was also Courtney's 25th birthday on Sunday, thus giving her the best weekend ever!
