This made me smile.

Hey money fairy...!

Come visit me so that I can immediately buy this:

The past several months I have found myself yearning to get into photography. Now, I'm not saying I want to become a professoinal. I think I'll leave that up to my friends and the women on the photography blogs I follow. But I do enjoy taking pictures and am ready to venture on to a an SLR camera. I've done my research and found that this one is the best for beginners. To further torture myself, I went to Best Buy yesterday to get some hands-on time with it. Then I stared blankly at the cameras for professional photographers. When I talk myself into wanting something badly enough, it's rather difficult to not purchase it right away. I am trying to hold strong, but you should probably start taking bets on how long I'll last.

Furthermore, wanting this camera fits in with several trends I've noticed about the vast number of blogs that I follow:
1. Women
2. Attractive
3. Artistic in some manner
4. Chances are, it's in photography
5. Therefore, owns an awesome SLR or Diana/Holga/Poloroid, etc (maybe all of the above)
5. Has a boyfriend/fiance/husband that is MADLY in love with them
6. Cute dog
7. Keen sense of fashion

Their lives seem ridiculously awesome, sooo I wouldn't mind placing myself a little more into their league.

Aggie Ring Day

Happy Friday!

I don't have anything particularly interesting going on, nor do I have any random musings to share, so I thought I'd dedicate this post to an A&M tradition that happens to be going on today: Aggie Ring Day.

For those unfamiliar with Texas A&M, the university prides itself on the many traditions that have culminated throughout the years.
One of the most visible and cherished symbols of being an Aggie is our ring. Therefore, Ring Day is simply the day when you get your ring. I have several friends getting theirs today, and I'm so exicited for them. Unless you're an Aggie, it's hard to understand how special and exciting this day is. In fact, I'm sure getting so pumped about a ring might sound silly to some people.
For a little insight into this day, I present to you some pictures from my own Ring Day back in Spetember of 08.

After waiting for my particular group number to be called, I lined up at my table and was presented with this gorgeous and shiny piece of gold.

This was before we were anything except friends (a little crushing was going on). Please excuse his weird hair. It was previously dyed blue (for another A&M tradition called Fish Camp...that's a whole other story for later), so he had to shave it all off in order to avoid looking like a crazy person.

Something you may not know about me is that I love taking jumping pictures. All the time. Everywhere. This was right outside the Visitor Center, where I worked as a tour guide through college.

Along with receiving one's ring comes the tradition of ring dunking. There's no way to add class or finesse to the tradition I'm about to describe, so I'll just say it. You put your ring in the bottom of a pitcher of flattened beer and chug it as fast as you can while all your friends watch it happen. I know, I know, this sounds a bit immature and perhaps even slightly dangerous. However, most people do end up doing this, though not always in beer.

The lovely ladies I dunked my ring with. Yes, we had shirts made. This is not uncommon at all.

After finishing my pitcher. 42 seconds. Yeah buddy.

I hope after reading this you don't immediately imagine all Aggies as ring obsessed, raging alcoholics. This is not the case! We are just proud of our traditions and like to have a good time :)

Happy Birthday, Maegan!

Today one of my oldest and dearest friends turns 23!
Maegan and I have known each other since the 5th grade, back when I thought she was slutty for wearing tall shoes and skirts with slits. We've been through a lot together, and our friendship means the world to me.
So happy birthday, dear girl!

My all time favorite picture of us. This is basically what happens when we're together.

We have spent most of our New Year's Eves together and always had a good time.

Being silly, as it is our custom.

See what I mean?

This bear has a story. I will not even begin to explain. Let's just say that we have very rich imaginations.

Maegan went to college in the town where this is. What a lucky girl!

For a while, we had a thing for stealing signs.

Love you!!

*I so wish that I was able to put pictures from high school and middle school on here. Unfortunately, my middle school pictures are not in digital form, and there are no high school ones on facebook! But you'd all be laughing if you could see some of the pictures from waaay back in the day*

Chester

I am an animal person.
If I see an animal, I'm probably going to pet it or make cooing noises in its general direction.

I really love cats.
If my life went wayward, being a cat lady doesn't sound so bad. Ok maybe that's a bit much.

So this is Chester. I rescued him from the harsh streets of San Antonio when he was a kitten and gifted him to Aaron and his roommate. I consider him to be mine as well, seeing as how it's thanks to me that he has such a nice and loving home.
He is a feisty ginger cat with the fluffiest tail you will ever see. He has actually grown into it a bit, but it's still a magnificent tail.
Chester loves cheese, any dairy product, catnip, and fishing things out of the disposal. He also loves to be in the bathroom when someone is showering and will meow outside the door in the mornings because he's been lonely all night. When he's feeling sweet, he does love to cuddle and sleep.
Practically all the pictures on my phone are of him. I am seriously like a proud mother and am constantly whipping out my phone to show people his adorable pictures. Yeah, I'm that girl.

Chester wants to be the next great American writer.

Or a rockstar.

Pet peeves

Being at work with absolutely nothing to do gives me a lot of time to simply sit and think. This can be both a good and bad thing. Today's thoughts led me to pet peeves. I have found that I have several. I don't want to be one of those people who is annoyed by even the slightest things, but my goodness there are just so many things that get to me!

So in the spirit of compaining and whining, here are a few, in no particular order.

1. Being late/other people who are perpetually late.
Meetings, events, celebrations, etc. are scheduled for a reason. Is it that hard to give yourself an appropriate amount of time to get ready and travel to said destination? Extenuating circumstances do not apply to this pet peeve. I'm talking about people who for some reason lack the capacity to ever be on time. If I have to tell you to be somewhere 30 min- 1 hour before its scheduled start time just so you'll make it on time, I'm going to start thinking twice about inviting you at all.

2. Driving slowly in the left hand lane.
I'm sorry, but were you not taught proper driving etiquette? If the speed limit is 70, you probably shouldn't be driving at the speed of an ailing grandmother in a lane where the majority of drivers are going 5-15 miles over the speed limit. And when I speed up behind you and am practically driving on top of your car, maybe that is a sign that you should mosey on over to the other lane. Thank you kindly.

3. Exceedingly long musical interludes.
My patience threshold is not too high. So if I don't hear some singing within 15 seconds of a song starting, you bet I'm going to change the station/move on to the next song on my ipod. I don't have time to sit around for an obnoxiously long instrumental introduction. Instant gratification, please!
*oddly enough, I do enjoy purely instrumental music. But I know what I'm getting myself into with it. If I'm expecting a song to have actual words, they darn well better make an appearance at the get go.*

4. People wearing clothes that don't fit them properly.
I'm not a bitch, I promise. But my eyes just don't enjoy seeing clothing that shouldn't have left the house on that person. They either A)Have GREAT self esteem, in which case I wish I were them B)Don't have a mirror or C)Don't care. How fun it must be to not care! However, I can't keep myself from gasping when you walk by my desk wearing a shirt that looks like it came from a children's store. Different sizes exist for a reason. Heed them!

I am stopping there, for fear that any people who read this and don't know me may start thinking I'm mean spirited. I'm not!
These are just a few things that irk me. Like Jimmy Fallon when he portrays Rob Pattinson...I'm bothered.

What I wouldn't give to do this

Today I started reading the most magical blog. This couple quit their jobs, sold their house and most of their possessions, and embarked on a trip around the world. How badass is that?! My initial thought was that I'd never be able to do something like that. I tend to be uptight about work, money, responsibilities, etc., so the thought of just dropping everything is a bit scary. However, upon delving into their blog I realized I could totally do it, especially if it was with an awesome travel partner.
I LOVE to travel and want to see as much of this world as possible. I think it's time to stop wishing and to do something about it. No, I'm not going to sell everything and run away; I don't have nearly enough money for that. But I'd like to be a bit more spontaneous. Sometimes I forget that I'm an adult with a job and I can do with my money as I please. So I'm going to try to set aside money for travel. Life's too short!
