Australia: THE FOOD

Otherwise known as the most important part of any travel experience.

After hearing about burger rings for months, I requested they be waiting for me upon arrival. Verdict: not so good. But Cheezels, on the other hand, ARE MAGICAL.

Grill'd Burger....meeeeeeeeh. I'd heard such good thngs but was not impressed.

Aussies love their desserts. This one is called Hedgehog.

Rocket, avocado, and goat cheese on toast. Fabulous.

Jelly slice was my main culinary goal on this trip, and it took FOREVER to find one. I was about to give up hope when alas, we found one in Lorne. Verdict: good, but not great.

Kangaroo. I know, I know. How could I eat it after holding paws with one? I just tried not to think about it. This was pretty easy to do since it tasted like pot roast.

I LOVE a good meat pie. This one was absolutely magical. I may have eaten this for breakfast one day.

Vanilla slice...eaten along with the meat pie for breakfast. It was vacation!

Shapes [delicious crackers] and Twisties [like cheetos]. Fun fact: bags of chips in Australia smell DISGUSTING. It's not like opening a bag of nacho cheese Doritos and inhaling a beautiful scent. I'm talking rank. But they taste good, so it's best to ignore the smell.

Please that I'm holding three different kinds of chips.

I failed to take a picture of one of the best burgers I've ever had! If you ever find yourself in Geelong, Victoria, go to Burgers Inc. You won't be disappointed!

Also of note, Tim Tams and Mint Slice [both cookies]. Tim Tams go quite nicely with a cup of hot tea...which I now drink thanks to this trip.

Overall, the food was quite pleasing.

I wouldn't say there is a certain "type" of Australian food because it's very international, which I really loved.

However, you still won't find me sampling Mexican food outside the United States [or Mexico].

Tim Tams are magical aren't they?! My Aussie friends in Dublin used to have them shipped over and I would snatch as many as I could.
