Backstreet's Back...in my dreams

Maybe I've been obsessing over reading about One Direction a little too much these days, for it was the boy band love of my past that showed up in my dreams last night.

The Backstreet Boys were holding a reunion concert, so naturally Caroline and I had to go...and sit in the front row, at that.

Apparently the boys were more interested in conversing with the crowd than crooning the songs that catapulted them into pop stardom, because I suddenly found myself in a rousing conversation with Howie D [consequently, my least favorite BSB member].

One innocent conversation quickly led to getting onstage and throwing back shots of vodka with them, minus recovering alcoholic, Nick Carter.

[side bar: I would NEVER, under any circumstances, take straight shots of vodka. I am not Russian.]

It must have impressed them that we were 25 year old women and not screaming 13 year olds who weren't even conceived when I was plastering posters of their faces on my bedroom walls [and ceilings] because we got invited to the after party.

Aside from more vodka imbibing, it was revealed at said party that Kevin had a crush on me. Things escalate quickly in dreams.

In true Caroline + Alex fashion, we demanded that a photo shoot take place to prove to all our friends that we were BFFs with BSB.

And how did we request that everyone pose? In standard, embarrassing boy band poses, of course. Think awkward crouches, fingers on the chin in a stance of contemplation, etc.

Our photo shoot was cut short by a Christian camp who was trying to do a group activity. Why this was taking place in a bar, I have no idea. But such is the way of my dreams.

I woke up laughing, and I like to think that this fabulous boy band dream set the pace for the positive day I've had.

Thank you, Nick, Kevin, Brian, Howie, and AJ!

Dream interpretation

Last night I dreamed that I was driving an 18-wheeler down a rollercoaster.

I feel like this is probably rife with symbolism, but I am no dream interpreter.

Happy Friday, y'all!
I'm off to see this band play tonight, and a country wedding tomorrow.

What if

Last night I had a wonderful catch-up call with my dear friend, Aisha. She's one of the coolest people I know. I mean, the girl is in a band that has toured Europe several times. She plays the violin and guitar and has been known to sing. And, most of all, she's living out her dream. Jealous yet?

We pondered over whether or not it is TRULY possible to have it all- love, success, and fulfilled goals/dreams. And at what point are you ok with sacrificing one for the other? Maybe I'm a pessimist, but I find myself doubting one really can have it all.

If I were living out my dreams, they'd look a little something like this:

Pictures of food AND Justin Bieber? Yep, that's right.

First, here are some pictures of the delicious breakfast my mom made us Sunday morning when she was in town. Homemade biscuits and scrambled eggs with venison sausage (yes, Bambi), zucchini, tomatoes, and onion. NOM NOM NOM. I did this just to make you hungry. You're welcome.

My mom put extra pieces of dough on top of the biscuits. I think it kind of made them look like boobs. No?

So how does Justin Bieber fit into this, you might ask. Many of you know that I have wacky dreams. They are very vivid and make ZERO sense. It is extremely rare for me to have a normal dream.
So last night I dreamed that Justin Bieber took me on a date...to the mall...a mall with mini golfing in it. While we were there, we ran into Finn from Glee and a hot friend of his who was just a normal guy [as in, he wasn't from a TV show or anything]. Apparently I was BFFs with them, and it even seemed like I may have had some romantical history with them both. In my dreams, I'm a hussy. After running into them, Biebs tried to kiss me. I averted that situation real fast. I did not want to be seen in public, and by former flames, getting kissed by a pubescent boy. So he gets all emo [typical 16 year old boy] and we leave. Down in the parking garage, the scene suddenly changes and we are now at Chili Fest. For those of you unfamiliar with this Texas sized event, Chili Fest is a weekend-long drunk extravaganza involving chili and country music that's held in the middle of nowhere. i.e. Not a place Justin Bieber will ever be. We get in the car [mine...he doesn't drive] and I appease him with a 5 second make out. End dream.
Let me make it clear, I CAN'T STAND JUSTIN BIEBER. I can recognize that he is talented, but he annoys the hell out of me. That hair. His clothes. The way he talks. The fact that he has a MOVIE coming out baffles me to no end. What in the world does a 16 year old know about life?? Plus, it bothers me when grown women fawn all over him. He is 16. We all know that I am very pro-cougarism, but that's a little much. So why he was the star of my dream last night is a question I cannot answer.

Prada, bloggers, and rabbit holes?

I've made mention before of the peculiarity of my dreams. I don't know if it's a testament to my imagination or not, but they're really strange. Always. Sometimes I find myself wondering, "should I even be dreaming that? Does this make me a freak!?"
In order to avoid another picture post that most likely makes me sound vapid, I will share my most recent nocturnal musings.

As is typical in dreams, I can't tell you where exactly it began. But somehow I am in a large office building in NYC, having just gotten out of...school? Upon exiting the building, I stumble across a Prada photoshoot. It is school themed. The photographer starts calling my name, urging me to pose and become part of the shoot. Hell yes, I'll certainly partake! So I'm doing my thing, most likely looking like a complete tool, when some gorgeous Italian dude strides up to me and...licks the outside of my mouth? Yes. His breath is delightfully minty and I do not resist. Hey, all in the name of art, right? The photographer, models, and gathering crowd applauds as I take a bow.

Next, I find myself walking up to a cute house in the woods, accompanied by my mom. We knock on the door and who should answer but the writer of one of the blogs I follow. She is very excited to see us even though she doesn't know us from adam. I feel creepy for A)Knowing where she lives [I promise I don't actually know where any of my favorite bloggers live] and B)Knowing the names of the other people in the house. We sit and chat for a while when suddenly...

I'm falling down the Alice in Wonderland rabbit hole with this guy I used to have a thing for. After landing, we start running around a treehouse maze looking for someone or something. I am running in high heels for some reason that is beyond me. Apparently our mission gets accomplished because we eventually find ourselves at a pub.

The end.

So what does this mean/how can I interpret these random situations? I've come up with some options.
1. NYC isn't too strange because it's my favorite city on earth. Moving on.

2. I miss school. Sad, but true. I'd kill to go back to college [but not as a business major. Whose idea was that anyway??]

3. I long to wear designer labels/have massive amounts of attention showered upon me.

4. I follow too many blogs and like to live vicariously through people I have never met.

5. I have secretly been slipping myself hallucinogens?

I feel these might be pretty accurate assumptions [minus the hallucinogens bit].

More dreams

For lack of better things to write about, I will share another one of my strange dreams.

I am in love with The Beatles. They will never go out of style. I guess it helps that my mom is an older mom and was in high school during their American invasion; therefore, I grew up knowing the words to many of their songs. Also, Aaron and I have been watching The Beatles Anthology and have nearly finished it. So it comes as no surprise that they appeared in a dream of mine a couple of nights ago. Taylor, you will appreciate this.

My parents and I are walking through this park. I don't know where it is, but it's just a typical park. Suddenly we hear "All my Loving" playing. We search for the source of the music and soon come upon a small stage where The Beatles are playing. Mind you this is present day, yet George and John are indeed present and looking just dandy. My mom runs over like a fat kid rushing a large cake. She then proceeds to sit on Ringo's lap. He has always been her favorite. My dad just kind of ambles over; he's a very laid back kind of guy. I am just dumbfounded, and slowly make my way over. Upon arrival to the stage, I tell them what a big fan I am and how delighted I am to meet them. I also let them know that I have recently finished watching all of their Anthology. Of course, I then ask to take a picture with them. And before waking up, I turn to Paul and tell him that he is my favorite.

As usual, I woke up very excited that I met The Beatles. Reality bites.

On another note, last night I dreamed that Aaron and I were somehow mixed up with Tony Soprano and his crowd, and Aaron got arrested for trafficking stolen vehicles. I did not wake up from that dream feeling sad that it was not real.
