A looksy into my day

Two days in a row! Progress, people.

My day, thus far, and a prediction for the evening:

5:45 am Wake up from a nightmare involving people/animals/objects being possessed by demons. Am skeptical that my real life cats are demon-free.
7:00 am Alarm goes off. Prepare myself for the day.
7:40 am Leave for work
11:00 am Early lunch time. Sushi!
1:00-2:30 pm Meetings
5:00 pm Appointment that involves wax and pain. Overshare?
6:00 pm+ Cook dinner, paint toenails, watch Downton Abbey, do last minute cleaning in preparation for the arrival of the Aussie boyfriend tomorrow.
10:30 or 11:00 pm Bedtime

My days are pretty standard. Up at 7, at work by 8, boot camp classes twice a week, half-assed exercise on the off days, dinners/drinks with friends here and there, LOTS of laying on the couch with cats watching tv.

With an insane work travel schedule coming up, not to mention 500 weddings to go to, I am thankful for the quiet moments of relaxation that the weekdays [mostly] provide.

What makes me happy

Continuing with blog whenever I feel like it in May...

10 things that make me happy.

1. Animals. All kinds. Strong leanings toward cats though, but I really don't discriminate. You know that video of Kristen Bell and the sloth? That's pretty much me with all animals.

2. Crawling into clean bed sheets. Extra points if my legs are freshly shaved.

3. Dance parties.

4. Food. All food. Cooking it. Eating it. Smelling it. I live for it.

5. That moment when a really good song comes on the radio and I turn it up full blast and sing at the top of my lungs.

6. Curling up with a good book that I'm completely lost in.

7. A great night out with friends.

8. Traveling. Getting to see a new place is so fulfilling.

9. Getting items checked off a to-do list. OCD over hurrrr.

10. TV/movies. I'm a junkie. Just look at my DVR.

Things that make me uncomfortable

It takes a lot to make me truly uncomfortable. This is something I pride myself on. But I can surely think of some things...

1. Running into ex-boyfriends. Ain't nobody got tiiiime for that.
2. Speaking of exes, the time my mom asked me in high school if my then-boyfriend "touched my breasts" when we made out. Ew, mom.
3. Seeing people sweat profusely.
4. Pictures of myself from ages 7-16.
5. People with staring problems.

And that's all I have for this Friday. My mind is shot.

I"m ready for the Cinco de Mayo weekend. Ole!

Playing teacher

Today's topic for May 2:
Educating you on something I am good at or know a lot about.

Well, I am really good at not being good at much.

Kidding. But for real.

I have never been one of those people that was just reallyyy good at something. I am not artistic or athletic. While I consider myself pretty intelligent, I'm not someone that people would describe as ridiculously smart.

But at any rate, here's a little list of things I excel in:
1. Cleaning a plate of food. Clean plate club all the way.
2. Being an animal whisperer.
3. Remembering random, useless facts. I'm pretty confident I could do well on Jeopardy.
4. Making people laugh with my awkwardness.
5. British accents.
6. Being up to date on pretty much every TV show on the earth.
7. Weddings. I am the most fun wedding guest ever.
8. Flip cup. Thanks, college education.
9. The game "big booty". Anyone ever heard of that before? It sounds scandalous, but is so not.
10. Navigating metro systems. Paris metro, you don't scare me. London tube, we're tight.

So, anyone need help honing your flip cup skills or filling your tummy with more than normal amounts of food?

In which I try to get back into blogging

I'm using this as a way to try to get back into the groove of regular blogging.
Somewhere along the way I just lost interest and decided to stalk everyone else's blogs as opposed to doing anything to my own. You should all be super flattered!
The topic for May 1 is the story of my life in 250 words or less. So in a nutshell:

I was born on January 3, 1987 in a tiny town in Texas. I grew up in San Antonio, TX [home of the Alamo and the mighty Spurs] until the day I left the nest to attend Texas A&M University. After four gloriously fun years, I graduated with a degree in Marketing in 2009. Thanks to the market crash of 2008 and my inability to decide what kind of career I wanted to pursue [the movie biz was my dream for a long time] getting a job proved to be difficult. Dark times ensued, but I finally got a job in Houston and moved there in October 2010. That is where I still reside, and life is pretty darn good. I went through a period of HATING my job, but thankfully I am now quite pleased with it. I have a passion for traveling and am thankful to have been able to do quite a bit of it in my life. Food is probably my number one source of joy. Some call me a crazy cat lady, and I am ok with that. I just call myself an animal enthusiast. I have the best friends a girl could as for, a boyfriend that's pretty cool too, and a wonderful [small] family. My dream is to spend a year traveling across the world. I am so ready to have an adventure!

11 Things

I found this on the always lovely Ashley's blog, and thought I'd give it a whirl.

Please picture me as I fill this out, besieged by allergies and a sore throat that could be part of said allergies or a product of screaming like a 12 year old girl at the Enrique Iglesias rodeo concert last night [clearly this is a scheduled post]

Via

Just an FYI, Enrique makes out with audience members.

Not me, unfortunately.

Now that you know I did not make out with Enrique, here are some other things to know about me:

1.       Which Website do you visit the most?
Facebook. They should be paying me per second I spend there. It's probably a little unhealthy. I can't help it if I like casually stalking people.

2.       If you couldn't shave your legs or wax your eyebrows for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
Tough question. I'm half Mexican so my eyebrows are thick and grow naturally into a unibrow [there are reasons you've never seen pictures of me as a child]. But hairy legs are unsightly as well.  So my answer? Move to Europe where leg hair is accepted.

3.       Name a talent you have
Not having any talents should be considered a talent. Hmmm...I do make excellent guacamole.

4.       If you could meet one person, living or dead, who would it be?
Tina Fey. And we'd become best friends immediately. She would probably get me a job as a writer on 30 Rock or give me a recurring role on the show. Obviously.

5.       If you had to go on a reality TV or game show, which one would you choose?
Jeopardy. I am 75% sure that I could dominate that shiz.

6.       If you were president, what's one law you would make?
30 hour work weeks and a MINIMUM six weeks paid vacation. The Europeans know what's up.

7.       What's your favorite smell?
Chocolate chip cookies in the oven, followed closely by the Anthro volcano candle

8.       You have a spicy piece of gossip,  who's the first person you tell?
Courtney and Caroline. I'm pretty sure we know absolutely everything about each other...and everyone else. We're like Gossip Girl without the malicious intent.

9.       What's your favorite thing about yourself?
My awkward sense of humor.

10.  what's your favorite holiday?
Thanksgiving. When else is it appropriate to gorge yourself on delicious food then sit around and do nothing? Oh, always? Ok.

11. What did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was 5, I remember telling people the following: "When I grow up, I want to be a ballerina, doctor, book illustrator, and archaeologist." Ballerina...tried that, not graceful enough. Doctor...went to a special high school for it and decided it was entirely too much school. Book illustrator...wtf I can't even draw. Archaeologist...too much dirt, but a more viable option than the rest.

Tweet Tweet

I'm not sure why I haven't done this before, but...

I can't promise anything ultra exciting, but I'll most likely be live-tweeting my way through Vegas.
That could be a good time.

Also, you'll see lots of pictures of my cats.

If I didn't have you at Vegas, I surely have you now.

[I would have added a Twitter box on the side bar, but I'm pretty much blog design stupid/too lazy to figure it out. Shame.]
