Backstreet's my dreams

Maybe I've been obsessing over reading about One Direction a little too much these days, for it was the boy band love of my past that showed up in my dreams last night.

The Backstreet Boys were holding a reunion concert, so naturally Caroline and I had to go...and sit in the front row, at that.

Apparently the boys were more interested in conversing with the crowd than crooning the songs that catapulted them into pop stardom, because I suddenly found myself in a rousing conversation with Howie D [consequently, my least favorite BSB member].

One innocent conversation quickly led to getting onstage and throwing back shots of vodka with them, minus recovering alcoholic, Nick Carter.

[side bar: I would NEVER, under any circumstances, take straight shots of vodka. I am not Russian.]

It must have impressed them that we were 25 year old women and not screaming 13 year olds who weren't even conceived when I was plastering posters of their faces on my bedroom walls [and ceilings] because we got invited to the after party.

Aside from more vodka imbibing, it was revealed at said party that Kevin had a crush on me. Things escalate quickly in dreams.

In true Caroline + Alex fashion, we demanded that a photo shoot take place to prove to all our friends that we were BFFs with BSB.

And how did we request that everyone pose? In standard, embarrassing boy band poses, of course. Think awkward crouches, fingers on the chin in a stance of contemplation, etc.

Our photo shoot was cut short by a Christian camp who was trying to do a group activity. Why this was taking place in a bar, I have no idea. But such is the way of my dreams.

I woke up laughing, and I like to think that this fabulous boy band dream set the pace for the positive day I've had.

Thank you, Nick, Kevin, Brian, Howie, and AJ!

That time we rode on a party school bus

Turning 26 is a big deal, and our friend, Val, knows how to celebrate a birthday.

Enter the party school bus.

It was literally a big yellow school bus...that children ride in.

Yet this ride was not appropriate for children.

The bus deposited us at different bars around Houston.

We made new friends.

And as you can see, costumes from different decades were worn.

I love a good party bus.

The birthday girl.

Our new friends from Norway.

The non-child friendly school bus allowed us to bring our own beverages for the ride.

New British [doctor] friends.

Snapshots from last weekend

A few tid bits from my weekend.

A Beatles cover band in a park downtown and a Sunday funday with my girls [and some gingers].

Good music. Go listen. I insist.

This gem of a song is by one of my oldest friends, Aisha.

Not only does she play violin in the amazing band, Balmorhea, she now sings and plays guitar on her own.

I've known this wonderful lady since we were 12 years old, and I cannot even begin to express how proud I am of her.

Good friends going places makes me happy.

Cougar tendencies adorable are they?

Forget how young they are.

According to an Entertainment Weekly interview, they are not clean cut. They drink! They date older women! The horror!

Maybe it's because they're British, but I am all for One Direction.

I swear I'm not creepy.

Plus, I know I'm not the only one out there!!

My 10 year old self can hardly contain her excitement

Is anyone else as pumped as I am for this??

I ugly cried when I saw the trailer before The Hunger Games.

And all it takes is the opening note of "My Heart Will go On" to send me over the edge.

I can't wait to see Leo in his prime. Yum.

The last time I saw this in the theatre, I was 10 years old.

25 year old me will be just as excited...if not more.

She'll also have wine for the 4 hour affair.
